Directions:From Hwy 101 in Larkspur (just south of San Rafael), take the Sir Francis Drake Rd. exit. Drive 2.1 miles to College Ave. Turn left and drive 0.3 miles to Woodland Rd. Turn right and drive 0.3 miles to Evergreen Drive. Turn left and drive 1.0 miles to Ridgecrest Dr. Turn right, then an immediate left onto Crown Rd. Drive 0.2 miles to the parking area along the side of the road.

For the longer hike to Dawn Falls, take the Tamalpais Drive exit off Hwy 101 in Larkspur. Drive west for 0.9 miles, then right onto Corte Madera Ave. Drive 0.6 miles to Madrone Ave. Turn left and drive 1.0 miles to the end of the road. Parking is limited   Click to view map of Dawn Falls hike

Dawn Falls can be accessed via a short 10 minute walk, or a longer 2 mile out and back hike through Baltimore Canyon in Larkspur. The waterfall is a small 20 ft. drop along a small creek. It is a dainty looking falls, but not very impressive. We were disappointed the creek was flowing so low, as we were here only a few days after a heavy rain storm.

To reach Dawn Falls the quick and easy way, follow the Southern Marin Line fire road (at the trailhead starting off Crown Rd.) for about 0.3 miles, looking for the signed Dawn Falls trail on the left. Take this down to the waterfall overlook. If you are looking for more exercise, and possibly a more scenic route, follow the Dawn Falls trail from the end of Madrone Ave. to the falls through Baltimore Canyon.
